How to sow it

Cherry tomatoes are the forgiving end of the tomato family: they ripen earlier than beefsteaks, they crack less, and a single plant will keep producing until the light goes in October.

Sow indoors from February on a bright windowsill, pot on once, and put plants out only when the nights are reliably above about 10 °C. Tomatoes rushed outside in a cold May sit and sulk for a fortnight and never quite catch up.
