How to sow it
Chantenay is stubby by design, which makes it the sensible choice on clay, on stony ground, and in containers where a long-rooted variety would fork and disappoint.
Sow thinly straight into the ground — carrots hate being moved — and resist thinning on a still evening. The smell of bruised foliage is what brings carrot fly in.
