How to sow it
Peas want cool, damp ground, which is why they suit a British spring so well and struggle in a dry July. Sow from March for a June–August picking.
The other window is the interesting one: a sowing in late October or early November, under a cloche in colder districts, sits through the winter as a small plant and crops several weeks before a spring sowing catches up. It is a gamble in a wet winter and a clear win in a dry one.
