How to sow it
Sown between slower crops, a turnip is out of the ground before its neighbours need the room. Pull them at golf-ball size: left to grow large they turn woody and sharp, and almost everyone who dislikes turnip has only met an old one.
The leaves are a decent spring green if you catch them young.
