How to sow it
Broad-ribbed chard is what you plant when you want one row that keeps giving without attention. It shrugs off frost, it does not bolt in a warm week, and it picks leaf by leaf for the best part of a year.
Treat the ribs and the leaves as two vegetables — the ribs want a few minutes longer in the pan than the greens.
